Finding Strength

I find a lot of strength in the scriptures. I means a lot to be able to look into the holy scriptures and see eternal truths being given and eternal truths triumphing over evil. It’s these scriptures that give me the strength to know that no matter what bad things may try to bother me, I know I will be ok and I know that with our Heavenly Father’s help, I will be able to endure to the end.

In times of trials and uncertainties, it is a good idea to turn to scriptures for guidance and help. I really urge you to look for the answers when you have questions. It is something I have long encouraged my students to do. You may find answers to your questions in many different places depending on your questions, but for eternal questions, I have found the scriptures to the best place for me.

You’ll find the answers that give you strength if you just look for them.

Donating My Time

I have long been donating money to worthy causes, but sometimes it just seems too easy to donate money and then forget about what it is that I am doing. It’s as if the money is more important than anything else and I think that’s wrong.

In fact, I have begun donating my time towards worthy causes in addition to donating money. I think it is good to put your money where your mouth is, but it is also important to put your action behind your ideas. If you spend all your time in thought and make other people put things into acting, you are ignoring your own power to help change things. That change comes from doing and that means donating your time.

Idea Notebook

Learning to live and work abroad was one of the best experiences me and my husband have ever had. It was a great opportunity to learn about different ways to do things. We also had the opportunity to be exposed to new ideas.

New ideas are the lifeblood of any growth. Early on, we tended to forget or just take for granted the ideas we found and now many of these ideas are lost or forgotten. It didn’t take us long to realize that we needed to keep track of these new ideas. Our solution has been to come up with an idea notebook.

We use the idea notebook just to record ideas we come across. We can later go back and check them and remember even more details. It sure makes the experience of living abroad even better.

Family Scrapbook Night

Being a family on the go, we never have had a photo album for very long. They are very bulky and easily fill up boxes or even suitcases when we make a move. Most of our photos are kept in shoeboxes or worse. I have decided lately that enough is enough and I have embarked on a family scrapbooking project with the kids.

Basically, a few times a week, my husband, my kids and I will all sit down on the floor of our living room to make scrapbooks. The scrapbooks are very personal and have the goal of telling a story. So far it is working very well and the kids are even getting into the act. I thought they might be a bit young but they love helping out with their scrapbooks.

Has anyone tried family scrapbook nights?

New Year Resolutions

It’s that time of the year again to make New Years Resolutions and try not to break them before the end of January. I have made a couple of New Years resolutions in order to help my family. I have decided to try to cook more meals at home. In the busy days of teaching, it can be tough to find the time to cook the meals I have wanted to, but I am going to make that effort this year.

I am also going to make a resolution to do volunteer work. I’d like to volunteer more often to help people. I think it would something benefical for everyone.

Finally, I am resolved to write a book this year. I am trying to discover the topic, maybe I will just start writing and see what happens.

What kind of resolutions have you made?

It’s kind of interesting the life that teachers live in different countries. English Teaching is a profession that allows us to travel the world and experience new and interesting cultures.
